Photo Assignment 6-Nature

This week, I took photos of nature. I also have some photos I took on the cruise in week one instead of seeing just snow. I captured the elegance and the beauty of nature in my photos. I took my final product and edited it in photoshop by changing the levels, cropping and using brush tool to soften the horizon.

ISO: 200
Shutter Speed: 1/100
Aperture: f/5.4

I had a great time doing this assignment. I would love to do it again. I learned how to capture the true beauty of nature by having a longer aperture. I would definitely do this assignment again if we had the chance.

Photoshop Tutorial

I used a reliable looking website that had many different tutorials that I could chose from. I decided to go with one that took 7 different photos and created a dock with a huge rock that looks like a house out in the middle of the ocean. I had to create many different layers and I had to use the lasso tool. I had to blend two sky's together and two oceans together to create a great effect. I had to make the horizon be softer. I had to create a shadow effect with the windows and the door. I used that brush to create very soft blackness to dim down the dock and sky.
Here is the website: Tutorial

At first, this was a very challenging tutorial but it got a little easier. It took me three days to create this photo. This was a challenging tutorial but I learned a lot from it and can use these skills in the future with editing my personal photos.

Context Assignment

In this assignment, I took photos around the school and created a photo that has water in an area that would seem like its supposed to be cement. We took real photos and made them look like why is that there.

I thought this was a difficult assignment and mine did not turn out so well. I thought my idea was good but it was hard to come up with things to be in my picture. I would not want to do it again if we had to choose.

Photo Assignment 5-Light Painting

I used a tripod and camera to create light painting for this weeks photo assignment. I had a dark room and a flashlight to create the painting of the light. I had to use a very slow shutter speed so I was able to create the paints.

Before:

After:

ISO:100
F-Stop: f/5.0
Shutter Speed: 15 sec

I learned how to use a flashlight to draw light in a photo. I thought it was a challenging assignment, trying not to get the flashlight shine in the camera or getting all of your outline done before it is done taking the photo. I would love to do it again, but it was a hard topic to do.

Photo Assignment 4-Macro

In this assignment, I got up close to trees and snow to capture there details to create great macro photos. I used the sun to create a good shadow and on the needles of my tree photos. I used the ability to blur the background out and keep the branch in focus with a low f/stop number.

ISO: 125
F/Stop: f/2.8
Shutter Speed: 1/1000

I learned how to capture really good up close photos to get the fine detail in the plants and show. By having a great sunny day, I could really get good detail on the photos. I would love to do this assignment again.

Portrait Assignment

We use the 3-Point Lighting setup and the Window Light setup to create 3 portrait photos. We used all sorts of different lighting in this assignment. We used the key light, fill light, and hair light in the 3-Point Lighting setup. We used the sun light and a bounce card to get our lighting in the Window Light setup.

I liked how we learned how to a professional portrait setup and how to do a cheap but good way to get a professional portrait. Theses setups can really help me in the future if I want to be a photographer.

Photo Assignment 3-Black and White

In this assignment, I used the black and white feature on our camera to try and capture great photos of my pets in black and white. I used a verity of different apertures, shutter speeds, and ISO settings to try and get the best photo I could. I took photos from different angles and made my pets sometimes be running or moving.

ISO: 80
Shutter Speed: 1/200 sec
Aperture: f/8.0

I thought this assignment was fun and I would love to do it again. I liked how the black and white feature made the photo look old but modern at the same time. It made the photo with the black and white. Black and white is a great feature and could be used in so many other ways to create great photos. If we have another assignment on black and white, I would very much so enjoy it.
